East Bound!
After Malibu, Monterey, a bull in the middle of the road, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, a drive through the night (well we did pull over at about 3am at about 8000 feet and take a nap in the jeep on the side of the Siera Navada Mts), Carson City and a nights stay in Reno, a really bad wind, rain and hail storm in the desert (and lots of tumbleweed)......we landed in Elko, NV. After dinner and a few slots (we won!) we had a good nights sleep. We are on 80E and have a lot of road and just a few days!
We are late getting on the road this morning so we don't have time to tell about the things we've seen in last last few days....Amazing!
Thanks for commenting Elisa....we have SO many pictures!!
More later.....see ya soon!

Pebble Beach
We are in a sweet little Bed and Breakfast called "The Centrella" in Pacific Grove, CA...it's just outside Carmel by the Sea. We have been on Hwy 1 all day yesterday and today and have seen miles and miles of the Pacific......from sea level to thousands of feet above it. We have taken about as many pictures as we have driven miles but I am not sure the pictures will have captured what our eyes have seen. We stayed in the quint little hamlet of Cayucous last night on the PCH and at dinner in a local hole in the wall, Bill and Carols Sea Shanty...it was really really good!!!
Looking back a little (pardon me if I am repeating) LA was fast....everything about it was just fast! We stayed outside the city Pasadena (an awesome little town). We ate dinner in the city at The Melting Pot, that was SO good...we want to go again when we get home. We drove on Sunset Blvd, Hollywood Blvd, walked the star walk of fame, drove on Rodeo Dr and had a (very expensive) drink in the Beverly Wilshire Hotel where they sat us at the end of the bar cuz we must not have looked like everyone else there (flip flops i guess...hmmmmm). It was, however, the very best Seabreeze I have ever had.
Today we saw Elephant Seals napping on the beach, hundreds of them. Got our tire fixed, it had a slow leak/nail in it. Thank you Lord it did not burst going 85 on Hwy 10 (speed limit is 75). We drove into Carmel along the Monterrey Peninsula, got some dinner and sat in the living room of the B & B and ate and then to our room...Curt is fast asleep beside me.
Catch up with yall later....please "comment" on our posts, would love to hear from you :)

We made it to California
Ok...we've driven 2,775 miles from Georgia to Pasadena, CA....home of the Rose Bowl! We got into Pasadena yesterday around 7pm. It's a really neat town....old and new at the same time. Picture downtown Augusta, but alive...it's the only place to shop for anything. Target, Neiman Marcus, Loft, Crate and Barrell, Walgreens, Cheesecake Factory, Melting Pot, Ruths Chris, McDonalds.....all of these and more all along about 6 blocks of "old town Pasadena". Mom, there is a CoCo's here...remember those? We found our way last night to the Rose Bowl...that was so cool!
The drive here was overwhelming. We drove through the Mojave Desert for miles and miles....so many new cars and SUVs on the side of the road overheated. It got up to 119 degrees but then as we got in to Pasadena went down to 82.

Grand Canyon Day
Well.....it's been a few days since we were able to blog. By the time we get to a place to crash, we are to tired to get on the laptop!
Since my last post we've seen SO much.....it was a very long drive through Texas but so cool. Then into New Mexico. We were amazed at how beautiful both states were. For miles and miles and miles we were on the straightest road you can imagine, not one bend and the sky is just huge....everything is so flat and you can see for miles. We stopped one night in the middle of the road, not a person or house for miles and so dark outside...no lights anywhere around for ever any direction you turn.....except for the stars in the sky. Millions of stars that were so bright...we have NEVER seen anything like it! We just stood in the middle of the road in amazement.
In New Mexico we drove through Cloudcroft where the elevation was almost 10 thousand feet and the air was so thin and crisp....the temp dropped from 107 to 61 !!!
We went to Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico....it's about a 2.5 mile hike....DOWN! into the cavern.
We then drove the rest of the day and night and took turns driving and sleeping. Before Flagstaff we drove the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest. It is indescribable...pictures cannot even capture how breathtaking it is. We arrived in Williams Arizona...just an hour after Flagstaff. We got a hotel room early in the day, washed clothes, sat around the pool and just relaxed. Curt had only had about 2 hours sleep inside of 48 hours at that point. We went and ate at an authentic mexican restaurant in the cool little town of Williams...the town below the Grand Canyon. By this time it was only 7pm and we were asleep by 7:30!
This morning after breakfast we are on our way up the hill to the Grand Canyon!!
We miss you all and will post more later!
Remind me to tell you about Curt's encoundter with the border patrol...guns drawn!!!!
